Enforcement
Operation Lifesaver promotes active ENFORCEMENT of traffic laws relating to highway-rail grade crossings and private property laws related to rail trespassing. When motorists disregard signs, lights, bells and gates at railroad crossings, the consequences often are deadly. A collision involving a vehicle and a train is almost 20 times more likely to result in a fatality than a collision involving another vehicle.
Law Enforcement Training Courses
The odds are most law enforcement officers will need to respond to these incidents. Law enforcement officials should Contact their State Coordinator to ask about attending Basic, Intermediate or Advanced GRADE CROSSING COLLISION INVESTIGATION Courses, approved by Operation Lifesaver, Inc., the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the National Sheriffs’ Association.
