Take Me Out to the Ballgame: OL Thank You Day in May

OL Thank You Night at Orioles: OL Volunteers, their families and friends from Maryland, the District of Columbia and Virginia got together for a night of baseball.

OL Baltimore Team: Alvin Richardson, Amtrak’s OL Liaison; OL’s Marmie Edwards, Regional Trainer Terry Ludban and OL’s President Gerri Hall.

A boisterous group of Operation Lifesaver volunteers from Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania showed their support. Bright T-shirts and fans in section 82 at Camden Yards featured the Advance Warning Sign and alerted others to our rail safety message. The game, it seesawed, but ended with a heartbreak 10-9 score after a hurried overtime. Anaheim out did the Orioles at the end, but not the OL crew, still ready for fireworks above the stadium.

This near-summer event May 14, gave the Mid-Atlantic OL crew a chance to thank their veteran performers and to enjoy the game together. We also prayed that the stadium camera might feast upon the OL Advance Warning Signs and send our message to thousands in the stands. Perhaps for a fleeting moment the message moved, but ‘twas more an evening of thanks and celebration.
